Afl 2001 round 2

This is the round two wrap up of the afl season 2001

Essendon (1-0) vs port Adelaide (1-0) Friday night Etihad stadium

After showing their poor pre season didn’t mean anything Essendon we’re looking strong against the pre season premiers port Adelaide. Essendon dominated a lot of the night starting well with a 7 goal to 3 first quarter to take a 27 point lead into 1/4 time port provided some resistance in the second but there forwards didn’t score enough to close the gap as Essendon lead by 32 points at 1/2 time a 7 goal to 3 third out the game beyond doubt as Essendon lead by 55 points port interestingly had they kicked straight might have had a chance at a record comeback but 7.5 to 5,0 in the last only reduced the pain slightly as Essendon run out 38 point winners
