After a rare stuff up a lot of questions were being asked about Essendon but against the red hot swans but it will be tough Sydney struggled In front of goal which lead to Essendon taking a 10 point lead at 1/4 time. Before 5 goals to 1 in the second quarter gave Essendon dominance leading by 6 goals at 1/2 time Sydney just couldn’t catch a break in the third as Essendon blew them away to a 55 point lead at 3/4 time before Sydney cut it slightly at the end of the game to 47 points.

Carlton were red hot having stunned the regining premiers while the crows are horrible out of form but as they say nothing is certain especially in bad weather. early on Adelaide got a big jump with 4 first quarter goals to 1 to lead by 20 points at 1/4 time. A slight closing in the second by Carlton to cut it to 15 points at 1/2 time. Another low scoring third quarter kept the margin the same giving the blues a strong hope.and while they closed the gap they fell short as the crows open their account with a shock 9 point win.

After an embarrassing loss last week the bulldogs were out to prove themselves while Brisbane wanted an away win having won the Same fixture last season. Bulldogs had an early jump leading by 12 points at 1/4 time. A strong second quarter gave them a strong shot as the bulldogs lead by 25 points at 1/2 time. Brisbane than kicked a bit inaccurate slowly gave the bulldogs an extended 28 point lead at 3/4 time. They than run away with it the bulldogs with a 6 goal to 2 last quarter to win by a massive 53 points hurting the lions hopes.

St Kilda reduces the margin slightly in the second with a 5 goal to 4 quarter cutting it to 33 points at 1/2 time. Before port used some chances in the third to lead by 53 points at 3/4 time. St Kilda didn’t provide a bit resistance in the last as port won by 64 points.

But west coast had other plans starting well leading by 13 points at 1/4 time. A close second had west coast out to a 15 point lead at 1/2 time. Freemantle than had all the running in the third combine with inaccuracy from West coast the scores were level at 3/4 time. Freemantles hopes of a drought breaker ended with a last quarter collapse in defence allowing west coast to run out 24 point winners.
