After a strong start melborune were looking at their first consistent season but the bulldogs were out to prove a point early on it was close but bulldogs had a small lead of 6 points at 1/4 time. A poor kicking second helped the bulldogs lead by 12 points at 1/2 time. A five goal to 3 third quarter lead by 26 points at 3/4 time. And held on for a 30 point win. Bulldogs have their annual Sydney home game next week Melbourne play Essendon in the grand final rematch.

The game of the round pre game failed to live up to expectation it was over at 1/4 time but could have been worse with Essendons poor kicking but they still lead by 31 points at 1/4 time with Richmond goalless a close second had better kicking the lead was 35 points at 1/2 time in Essendon favour more goal kicking errors in the third helped Essendon out the game away leading by 44 points at 3/4 time and won by 46 points Essendon prepare for the rematch of the Grand final Richmond play Adelaide.

after a few good weeks Adelaide were confident but freemantle has been very unlucky not to win. Adelaide started well leading by 9 points at 1/4 time. A close second got freemantle with in 4 points at 1/2 time. Adelaide missed badly a lot in the third but still lead by 12 points at 3/4 time and won by 20 points they will travel to play Richmond next week freemantle host Geelong.

Geelong were in desperate need of a win Carlton need consistency. Carton took control from the start leading by 16 points at 1/4 time. Geelong wasted chances in the second giving Carlton a 24 point lead at 1/2 time. A 5 goal to 2 third put the game away with a. 42 point lead to Carlton a slight last quarter fight back did nothing Carlton won by 40 points. Carlton host Brisbane next while Geelong travel to the only more out of form side freemantle.
