After a strong start to the year Richmond were trying to do better than they did last week Adelaide were in good form. Richmond started well leading by 7 points at 1/4 time. And 22 points at 1/2 time but it was mainly Adelaide’s bad kicking the reason a 9.0 third quarter gave Adelaide a big reversal leading by 26 points at 3/4 time. Adelaide won by 28 points in a big upset and will travel to Brisbane next Richmond play Geelong.

After a inconsistent start Carlton needed to get back to back wins brisbane we’re off a high having won their last three a close first quarter had Carlton up by 7 points at 1/4 time. A 7 goal to 1 second quarter had Carlton out to a 43 point lead at 1/2 time. A strong third quarter by both sides didn’t help Brisbane still trailing by 47 points at 3/4 time. But the blues kicked clear to win by 74 points leaving there season a bit more consistent while Brisbane’s travelling woes continue.

A closer second quarter kept the lead extending to 45 points at 1/2 time. 6 goals to 1 in the third to extend the lead to 76 points at 3/4 time. A close last was more of a dress rehearsal as hawthorn stay on top with a 80 point win.

The grand final rematch that was more exsiting than the accrual game. Melborune started well leading by 8 points at 1/4 time. A 3 goal to nill second quarter gave Essendon a 9 point lead at 1/2 time. A close third quarter extends Essendons lead to 10 points at 3/4 time. Melbourne came close but Essendon held on by a goal.

Freemantle stormed back into contention with a 5 goal to 2 quarter trailing by 36 points at 3/4 time there best again wasn’t good enough going down by 22 points.
