After 8 rounds one of the strangest rounds yet sees the battle for spots in the 8.

Kangaroos (3-5) vs Carlton (5-3) mcg Friday night

After a reserection can the Roos keep it up they started well kicking 6 goals to 1 in the first to lead by 29 points at 1/4 time in the battle of last years prelim exits. There lead got to 35 points at 1/2 time the Roos. But Carlton suddenly kicked 5 unanswered goals in the third and the lead was only 5 points at the last change. A 4 goal to 1 last quarter gives them a 13 point win to Carlton. Roos play bulldogs next while Carlton host west coast

Collingwood (4-4) vs St Kilda (2-6) mcg Saturday afternoon

After an massive upset few had the pies siding quickly but by 1/4 time they were 14 points down. By 1/2 time it was out to a 6 goal lead to St Kilda. Collingwood than stormed back but poor kicking had the saints 19 points clear than they finally put together a good quarter Collingwood with 6.4 to 0.3 last quarter to win by 18 points. Collingwood host Sydney on Sunday next while St Kilda host Melbourne.

After a big loss the lions had a lot of questions but should still win at home right but after a big upset last week are the crows one of the form teams. 13 goal were kicked in the first quarter with Brisbane leading by 1/4 time. A much lower scoring second quarter had the lions out to a 6 point lead at 1/2 time. Another shoot out in the third had Adelaide up by 5 points at 3/4 time. The margin was unchanged as they held on for a big win for Adelaide who host Geelong next Sunday Brisbane face the biggest team Essendon at home on Saturday

A top of the table clash that failed to live up to expectation at 1/4 time Essendon lead by 21 points and after the hawks were held goalless in the second and the margin was 47 points at 1/2 time. a closer third had the margin at 51 points at 3/4 time. And a 65 point win to Essendon ends the hawks run and extends the regining premiers run to 6 and they travel to Brisbane next hawthorn host port In the battle of the main rivals.
