10 teams are moved from broken hill to sydney by train during the pit stop overnight. the first clue tells them to fly to tokyo japan the two flight options are a non-stop flight on qantas (arriving 615am) or via hong kong on cathay pacific (supposed to be arrive at 6am). margie/luke kynt/yvxsin (with kynt wearing a cowboy hat) jamie/cara mel/mike and zev/justin (flight time/big easy give them there seats as there was enough for one more team when they get to the office) take the cathay flight. the others take the qantas flight we find out that christina is engaged to azaria (from their first season). the luck of the teams on the cathay flight with flights is still bad with the flight delayed out of hong kong putting them a bit over an hour behind which the teams on the qantas flight find out because they are now the 1st flight to land all morning. the first clue sends them to a car garage for a clue sending them to kamakura and to a dojo the interesting bit is getting a car given to them automatically. the cowboys get a bit lost finding the dojo. The teams on the delayed flight (except zev/justin) decide to work together until they relalise they are racing to avoid last. the roadblock is doing a rigerous samurai training learning the form with a bow and arrow and than hit a target. it is tricky routine but finding it is very hard for the cowboys (jet/cord) and jamie/cara (who constantly crash their car and get pretty lost). zev/justin catch up to the 1st flight pretty quickly. Jen finishes 1st and the next clue sends them to a kintaro statue at a train station. justin acctually pases most teams who arrived before them. somehow the cowboys are only ahead of jamie/cara going into the roadblock. jamie/cara get in a crash on someones mirror putting them behind even more. keisha/jen find a funeral in process on the way to the station. the detour is doing either “prayer of purity” which is a physically straining task that is a part of a prayer routine. or “frog of luck” searching for a frog in the mud. most teams take the frog except ron/christina and the globetrotters (flight time/big easy). the prayer of purity task must be done in day time for the record. the globetrotters accidentally take ron/christinas bag at the prayer detour which will give them a penalty even though it was an accident (due to the distress it caused). zev/justin are first to get the pit stop clue to yokahama and win the leg. Jamie/cara are way behind heading towards the detour. most teams find the frog without issue but mel/mike have trouble due to the cold tempreatures and mike concerned about mels health asks him to stop they go to the medical tent before jamie/cara arrive. zev/justin win a trip to costa rica. the globetrotters lose 2 spots due to a penalty. mel/mike take the penalty sparing jamie/cara who find the frog in time.
