an md-80 departs puerto vallata mexico for san franssico with 88 people on board most of which are holiday makers returning to the us. captain ted thompson and fo bill tansky are in command of the plane today. the crew are unaware of cut costing that put the plane at risk. the crew start having trouble with the horizontal stabilizer which is pushing the plane down but the crew use the elevators to keep the plane climbing. they try using things to free the stabilizer but doesn’t help much the crew don’t use autopilot due to the checklist. the crew are having trouble keeping the plane climbing to its cursing altitude of 32000 feet. maitence doesn’t know anything and in fact they don’t have anything to help with the problem. they want to divert to lax but dispatch is against it mostly due to delays it would cause they ask for an instructor but don’t get one. they battle to keep the plane flying and it enters a dive but they barely recover but the plane is in serious trouble but they get under control they declare an emergency to la and request a block altitude. the crew tell the passengers the plan to divert to la but the passengers are still rightfully scared. the crew decide to risk more trouble shooting. the crew are worried about how the plane will react if they try and land and maitence is still no help and are not happy with the situation. the crew tell the passengers that they have a problem as well. the crew take the risk of staying out of the water to save people on the land but if they crash they doom everyone on board. after more trouble shooting it is getting worse and they think its damaged than the stabilizer breaks putting the plane into a nose dive from 18000 feet the crew battle to save the plane but the engines fail and they go inverted. the pilots fight to save the plane but they hit the water killing everyone board and no bodies are intact. the worries about the t tail design. the stabilizer design was destroyed and the jackscrew was destroyed. the pilots making it worse with the controls. alaska airlines is looked at and find that cutting costs on maitence lead to safety inspections being reduced to an illegal rate a whistle blower reports them to the faa but lost his job and the presure to keep planes in the air had a roll in the crash. john leotine the whistleblower was conisdered a problem by the company and lost his job he also had ordered the part fixed that caused the crash.

next time an a330 must glide to a emergency landing over at the atlantic with over 300 lives on the line.
