ash and misty continue to travel through the viridian forest and misty sees another bug which is a weedle (which is part posion type and has a stinger). ash tries to catch it with pidgeottto battling it (after pikachu refuses to and forgetting he has to weaken it). pidgeotto battles well but during this time misty runs into a kid dressed as a samurai who wants to battle a trainer from pallet town so he finds ash who is about to catch the weedle the distraction lets the weedle get away which samurai denies responsibillity for. ash battles samurai with pidgeotto exhausted it still battles samurais pinsir (a bug type) but loses badly so ash uses metapod which hardens breaking pinsirs pinsir’s so samurai switches to his metapod leading to a pointless battle as they only know harden which goes on for ages. meanwhile team rocket are still in the forrest trying to avoid beedril and get pikachu they have a paper tank to hide from beedril. the battle between the metapod ends a draw as the trainers faint and a herd of beedril approach and take ash’s metapod (they where informed by the weedle that samurai caused ash to lose). ash and misty flee with samurai to the laters cabin after finding metapod with some kakuna (the midform between weedle and beedril) to get away samurai critiercises ash (even though this is mostly his fault) he says he had battles with gary and the other trainers from pallet and they are much better than ash which makes him more upset. ash is worried about metapod and the next morning goes to get it but team rocket attack him to get pikachu (who isn’t with ash) but the motto alerts the beedril to their presence. ash barely gets metapod while avoiding the beedril while team rockets paper tank is destroyed by weedle. ash meanwhile tries to get metapod back into its pokeball and apologises to it when a beedril attacks metapod evolves into butterfree after attacking the beedril and than puts the beedril and team rocket to sleep with sleep powder attack. ash and samurai become friends and they say goodbye to each other as ash and misty leave for pewter city.
next time ash finds the first gym will he win against the rock types of pewter city.
