ash and friends arrive in grandpa canyon which is a natural wonder and see a lot fo people with pick axes gary reveals himself and says its the great fossil rush and gary says he will get the fossils before anyone. ash also starts to look brock thinks its a bad idea jigglypuff is seen watching them. as people dig for fossils gary finds some pokemon manure which disgusts his cheerleaders (which he mistakes for a brain). team rocket reveal themselves as they are planting dynamite to get all the fosils by blowing up the canyon which they have already set up despite meowth supicions. ash and pikachu try and stop them with squirtle using water gun but is just short of the fuse and team rocket try and prevent ash and squirtle from stopping it and when james trips sends them into a ball then pikachu attacks the fuse which sets it off sending ash, pikachu and team rocket into a cavern while squirtle is hurt but ok and is saved from the hole by misty and brock but it was a big rock slide that traps the rest. ash and team rocket try and work together to get out of the cave and encounter prehistoric pokemon omanmyte omastar kabuto and kabotops which attack ash and team rocket ash tries to use charmeleon who still won’t listen to him and none of the other pokemon are strong enough even though team rocket are excited to try and get them as well. oficer jenny finds misty and brock trying to get help and they try and remove the rocks but it takes a while. when the prehistoric pokemon suddenly run away they encounter a aerodytcyl another one which attacks and grabs ash pikachu and charmeleon (who is knocked out quickly). with ash weakened and about to be eaten by aerodyatcyl misty comes up with the idea of getting jigglypuff to put ash and friends to sleep. charmeleon wants to battle aerodactyl and evolves into charizard in the process (which makes it a part flying type) this leads to it following aerodactyl to battle it jigglypuff puts them to sleep and charizard saves ash from falling aerodactyl falls back into the cave. ash finds a pokemon egg and digging is banned from the canyon brock steals the egg from ash and runs away with it.
next time pikachu is sick from eating a apple hole will they get out.
