a boeing 737 from manchester to corfu in 1985 prepares to depart early in the morning when on takeoff an engine explodes some passengers rush to the front of the plane to get to safety before it even stops the crew abort the takeoff. passengers struggle to get off in time with 137 people on board. the crew don’t finish the checklist before they evacuate. 54 people are dead and 1 in hopsital dies. 1985 has been a horror year for aviation and this crash only adds to worries. the cause of the accident was a cracked cylinder in one of the engines caused the fire and there is a lot to do with how evacuations could be done better.
