a boeing 737 is landing in los angeles during the start of the gulf war from ohio. atc is very busy and the junior controller is confused with the high traffic and at the last minute clears the 737 to land but it bursts into flames on landing. when the rescuers find the plane they are shocked to find a propeller atc finds a skywest metroliner is missing the planes had colided on the runway. no one on the metroliner lives and several on the 737 die. the cause was atc error in terms of being overworked and stressed meant they weren’t aware of every plane in its area and had forgotten the metroliner.
