ash is watching the elite 4 member bruno train on tv to learn strategies but misty stops them to make ash train for the pokemon league they find out from ash’s mum he is on mt hideaway where they decide to go. they take a break at a rest stop where an old lady is annoyed at people steeling her meetballs which is teamrocket who are sent away by the old lady who warns ash and friends about the onix. they find tracks left by the onix which finds them which they have to run from but get help from bruno in hiding from it. ash tries to get bruno to teach him the secret techniques but doesn’t work even with brocks help. he does get ash to build his strength in an attempt to help with the meal. misty is skepctical of brunos technique though. bruno and team rocket though both want the onix and team rockets attempt fails badly and are attacked but ash and friends come to their rescue. but its bruno who wins it over and gets the sandslash out of it that was causing it pain after saving ash from the onix which bruno catches the onix. bruno reveals there is no secret to training pokemon.
next time an ancient mystery almost destroys pallet town.
