ash and friends are at a party to celebrate ash’s efforts in the pokemon leauge in palle ttown. after the speeches they let their pokemon out to help party but team rocket are at the party to try and steal pikachu by using over hot chilli and they hurt pidgeotto forcing ash to reluctantly use charizard to get pikachu back which works in getting pikachu back. team rocket land in a tree where pidgey and pidgeotto are hiding from some spearow and fearow. ash is told about the oranige islands and decides to go there next to deliver the gs ball to professor ivy who is based on vallencia island. ash and friends run into the fearow who evolved from the spearow he encountered in the first episode and uses pidgeotto to help battle and try and catch it during the process pidgeotto evolves into pidgeot and beats the fearow but ash doesn’t catch it ash releases pidgeot to protect the other flying types and says he will be back some time for it.
