ash catches the caterpie (a bug type) and is overexcited and misty is not happy due to her fear of bugs which leads to her being rude to caterpie that upsets it and ash. ash and misty despite aruging end up spending the night at the same camp site in the forrest where caterpie tells pikachu its dream of evolving into butterfree. ash thinks caterpie went back in its pokeball due to misty upsetting it which may have been a factor but than they spot a pidgeotto (the flying type evolution of pidgey) ash makes the mistake of battling it with caterpie which due to a type disadvantage is almost eaten pikachu though finishes off pidgeotto allowing ash to catch the flying type. team rocket than attack to get pikachu after the last eps events and are very tough in battle with ekans and koffing blinding pikachu beating pidgeotto but than caterpie somehow beats them with string shot and tackle which sends team rocket away and than it evolves into metapod when misty tries to congratulate it ending the episode.
next time a trainer puts ash’s and metapods lifes in danger.
