after janina leaves the group with the medicine ash battles chuck the gym leader with bayleef proving too strong beating poliwrath and manchoke (despite pikachu losing to poliwrath) giving ash his 5th badge they are told that it will be a bit before the battle against jasmine so decide to head for the whirl islands.
