for the fifth year in a row all money was on the blues to win the flag topping the table with 15 wins but a shock loss to winless st kilda in the final round would have some worried both their other loses were to essendon who were 4th behind pies and swans as well a much improved cats got 5th with university winning more than half their games for only time with 10 wins 6th st kilda got the wooden spoon.

they looked like breaking through for a finals berth getting a record of 9-4 at one point they won 5 straight at one point but failed to beat a top 4 side and finished 6th.
finals summary
blues never recovered losnig the semi to south but had the right to challenge the pies who beat the dons and swans but the pies were too good for their 3rd flag by 14 pooints.

early loses to the blues in round 1 and dons in round 4 would have some worries a upset loss to the cats i n round 9 had some worried and a loss to the blues the next week and the swans in round 11 but entered finals on a 7 game winning streak and beat the 3 other finalists to win the flag.
