season summary
in a crazy year fitzroy returned to form topping the table with 16 wins only losnig to geelong and st kilda speaking of the later the saints were a suprise 4th with 11 wins behind south (14 and a half) and collingwood (13 wins). geelong were the closest with a game out with essendon and carlton lsumping substationaly to 6th (carlton) and 8th (essendon who only beat winless university after the siren their only win ever after the siren to date).
finals summary
in a massive shock saints beat swans to earn the right to play the lions twice for the flag they won the first but the rematch was disasterous till the last quarter when 4 goals in a row nearly won the saints their first flag but the lions got the last 2 to win by 13 points.
interesting season st kilda
the first half of the year was another unremarkable year sitting 6-6 before a 5 game winning streak and than gettintg smashed by the cats but it was enough to finish 4th and a shock win over the swans and the lions but failed to win the flag over the lions.
premiers season fitzroy
their 5th flag was obvious for most of the year a early loss to st kilda and a rare loss to geelong in round 12 but a win over the pies in the semi guranteed them a chance at the flag and won an early remarkable grand final.
