geelong and south rejoined with the cats starting slow but just missing the finals to fitzroy while south had a strong return getting 3rd to the pies with the blues finishing 2nd. richmond got the wooden spoon.

lions almost steal naother flag beating blues and pies but the pies had the right to challenge and won their 4th flag by 35 points.
intereesting season south
started well till losing to ronud 4 to the pies starte d a 3 game losing streak hit incosnistency and finishing 3rd with 9 wins but lost the semi to the pies badly.
premiers collingwood
loses to the blues in round 2 a strange draw with last place tigers in round 6 a loss in south in round 9 and blues again in round 12 and cats in round 15 were there blemishes and a prelim loss to fitzroy but won the flag the next week easily.
