the same 4 dominated but in a different order the pies cats dees and dons were the 4 with the roos going winless (one draw against the hawks) with the new sides the bottom 3. south finished 5th on percentage from the dons.
hawthorn summary
a early win over the roos gave a little hope theyd get out of the bottom 2 in round 7 had their biggest scalp yet fitzroy their only win against an established side this time one more win over the dogs in round 16 and a draw with the roos in round 13 saw them finish 11th.
interesting season south
early loses to tigers and saints and blues had their season looking doubtful when they lost to the pies in round 6 and dees in round 7 were 2-5 and looking done but then won 10 out of 11 to just miss finals 1 goal loss to the pies in round 17 after 9 wins in a row broke their chances.
finals summary
despite being long odds the dons stun the cats and just falling short of the dees who beat the pies in the other semi meaning the dees would play the pies in the grand with the dees winning their 2nd flag.

after an unlucky 25 they fell to the blues in round 2 pies in round 4 geelong in round 10 a week after a 141 point win over the hawks. and pies again in round 15 they dominated the finals for their 2nd flag from 3rd.
