sesaon summary
it was between south and saints for last with the saints getting it on the last day south acctually got above pies with a strong finish though the supprises were the lions (3rd) and hawks (5th) probably helped by the war this was the hawks best year till the 50s and an indication of things to come for the lions. blues dons and tigers the other finalists.
hawthorn summary
acctually won over half there games for the first time and almost made the finals lose to the dons in round 2 tigers in round 8, blues in round 10, dons in round 12, blues in round 13 and a critical last ronud loss to the roos (only non-finalist to beat the hawks) cost them 4th finishing 5th.
finals summary
lions knock blues out but it was a reversal of 42 dons win the semi over tigers but the tigers win their 5th flag over the dons.
interesting fitzroy
big imporvers 2 close wins bfore losing to hawks in round 4 (bye was in round 2) blues in round 8 dons in rund 11 and 13 and a shock to the pies in round 15 finishing 3rd beating blues but losing to tigers.
premiers richmond
loss to the blues in round 1, dons in round 4, lions in round 6 and 12, and hawks in round 14 but made ground on dons to finish on top but the dons won the semi after beating lions in prelim tigers got revenge for their 5th flag.
