south had their last good season for ages topping the ladder on 16 wins out of 20 one more than the pies with the roos making the 4 for the first time on 13 wins same as blues with the dogs just missing out saints got the wooden spoon with two wins.
hawthorn summary
an early upset against the blues in round 2 was the highlight starting 1-10 didn’t help before stunning the dons in round 12 other wins over saints in round 14 tigers in round 16 catsi in round 17 roos in round 19 to finish 10th.
finals summary
swans beat pies in the major semi but the blues came out of nowhere beating the other three finalists including the swans in the grand to win their 7th flag.
interesting season north
aftera 0-2 start losing to pies and tigers suddenly became dangerous with a 7 game winning streak before losing to blues in round 10 and pies in round 12 tigers in ruond 13 swans in round 17 and hawks in ronud 19 (amazingly almost reversing two years earlier when the roos cost the hawks 4th) but got the spot finishing 3rd but lost to blues in the semi.

after a awful start losing their first 3 including a 100 point loss to dons in round 3 hawks and dees also beat them a round 6 loss to pies round 7 to tigers had them playing catch up in 9th after losing to dogs in round 9 but won 10 out of 11 losing to the dons in round 14 and then won all 3 finals to win the flag.
