a man reads an acient profesy about the legendry birds and the beast of the sea and plans to steal the legendry birds starting with moltres with his main goal to get lugia. he succeeds at getting moltres. ash and friends are sailing along in a booat in the mean time and relaxing in the sunshine to have a break and let the pokemon out for a rest when a storm hits forcing them towards to the center of the islands called shomuti (which is also where team rocket end up) the weather is also wild as far as away as kanto. we find out on the island is a big celebration and a girl named melody is following in her mums footsteps as the lead in the celebration and ash earns the right to travel to the three islands to get the gems of the legendries for the celebration. ash and the woman who took him to the island head off to get the gems and go to fire island first in the storm which they are able to get. melody misty and tracy follow behind them as do team rocket. the boat is wrecked on fire island. they head for lightning island next but zapdos beats them there and pikachu tries to communicate with it. at this point the man from earlier the villian comes to steal zapdos but accidentally takes ash friends and team rocket as well who try and free the legendry pokemon after he explains the plan. ash and friends are able to free the legendries with auticuno now involved its an all out fight. ash has the lighning island orb but not the ice one where he has to go at this point lugia appears but is no match for the other legendries on its own and despite getting ash to ice island (with team rocket are able to hold on) they fail at getting back so the song helps with the situation and despite another attack from the villian it all ends well and ash even gets to ride on lugias back.
overall quite an interesting moive a classic but there are better ones.
score 8.5/10

ash and friends are crusiing along on lapras when a trainer hits them in his boat. ash is challenged to a match by the trainer although team rocket are watching. the first match is poliwrath v pikachu which despite a type advantage pikachu loses so he uses charizard which does worse and gets frozen so ash before a rematch decides to help thaw it out and get its respect which acctualy works and charizard saves pikachu from team rocket while listening to ash. ash wins the rematch with the trainer and they continue their journey.

ash and friends are on an island known for large pokemon when they get trapped by team rocket who lock pikachu and meowth together as part of their plan but get taken away by a pidgeot. team rocket try and get pikachu before ash and friends its a race to find them. while pikachu and meowth try and get to safety with meowth trying to get pikachu to team rocket nothing works but it all ends well despite giant rhydon and pidgeot. pikachu and meowth are reunited with their trainers and after a battle team rocket are sent off.
ash and friends arrive on trovita island for ash’s 3rd gym badge when they rescue a girl and her seal. it is revealed that she was the gym leaders little sister the gym leader rudy has a crush on misty. ash has to knock out targets to get the right to challenge rudy but despite accidently using charizard while destracted succeeds with team rocket failing their plan as usual. rudy impresses misty with dinner and showing dance moves and his sister wants her to live with them as well. the first match is pikachu v electrabuzz which is tough for ash because electric type moves won’t work but using speed doesn’t help either so ash loses the first match. executor v bulbasaur is a much more interesting match as bulbasaur attacks don’t work initally but sleeppowder gets ash the win. squirtle v starmie is the deciding match another tough match as it knows electric type moves but mistys cheer helps ash win.
ash and friends are heading for the trovitia gym and ash is quite hungry and find a town where a secret lurks. team rocket accidently put ash and friends in the sewers with a contraption. when ash and friends encounter a weird vine which traps ash’s bulbasaur but misty and tracy won’t let ash rescue it and find from officer jenny and the mayor who wants to keep the incident secret due to an upcoming election. we find out from nurse joy that the plan to lock up the sewers which would trap ash’s bulbasaur. so ash has to go and get bulbasaur back before it gets trapped by the creature. team rocket also get stuck in the sewers. ash uses muk to help with the sewers. ash finds bulbasuar and another bulbasaur who we find out was the mayors but the mayor abandoned it and refuses to help it but he gets arrested. and ash and friends head to trovita.
