episode 5

the episode starts with team rocket digging a hole for Ash and friends to fall into it doesn’t work. Ash and Misty arrive in Pewter city and meet a man named Flint who shows them to the pokemon center Flint is a rock merchant yes there is such a thing in this show. There ash sees a poster for the pokemon league and decides to register he ignores mistys help for the battle against Brock the gym leader the match doesn’t go well and Onix beats Pikachu easily ash is demoralised he runs into Flint who shows the tender side of Brock who raises a lot of his siblings due to his mum and dad being missing (the mother is said to be dead but thats later proven false) ash gets help by charging pikachu with a machine in the rematch pidgeotto loses to geodude but pikachu knocks geodude out in one hit the battle with onix doesn’t go well until the sprinklers go off giving ash the chance to win he pretty much does but than forefits due to it being unfair in his opinion but brock than hands him the badge  anyway it is than revealed that flint is brocks dad and lets brock go with ash and misty on the journey while team rocket get trampelled on
