in 2003 the iraq war is still being an issue despite being over for mounths in november a french camera woman is filming a group of terrorists who plan to attack a plane meanwhile an a300 departs baghdad for bahrain the cargo plane with 3 people on board for dhl. the takeoff is normal but not long after the terroists fire a missle at the a300 it hits the left wing destroying the hydrolic lines and causing the plane to bank left but the engine still works. the crew can’t ctonrol the plane without hydrolics and the plane is out of control. they are trying to return to baghdad and try and use the throttles to control the plane which barely works even though no plane has survived either losing hydrolics or being hit by a missle and there is no training for this kind of thing. it is quite a difficult act but the crew master it and head for baghdad for a landing even though a second misile is fired at them but misses at this stage the camera crew and the terroists leave the camera womans justification for not saying anything that her life is more important than the plane but that is controversal and she herself shows a bit of regret. lowering the gear is very difficult as it has to be done manually and it makes harder to control the plane. the crew are too high now so have to go a long final approach with a fuel leak its not good. the approach of 37 kms will be very risky but they manage to get on course for a landing but are very fast and leaning left but land safely making history of being the first plane to land safely with no controls or being hit by a missile no one is injured and despite worries about mines the evacuation is done well. it is revealed there is technology that would have let the plane be controable with no hydrollics and there is anti misile technology but are too expensive for comerical airliners.
