bartel won the brownlow from geelong which was expected to go to his team mate gary ablett jnr so after round 5 they were by far the dominating side one loss in that time (at home to port who they easily got revenge on) only one team (hawthorn lost by 4 points in only meeting in round 4) they never beat all year as well.
