Now this is a bit of a different thing with qatar airways in the news again this time for banning a youtuber for being honest in his reviews and the recent denied request on more flights I’d thought I’d say a few things about the recent issues. I haven’t flown them since 2010 (fhe only time I flew them from Melbourne to Rome via Doha return) and I don’t plan on flying a middle eastern airline for a long time (for political reasons (el al) or awful experiences (emirates). I will say that my experience on them wasn’t the worse. The first issues the air space blockade which was ridiculous counties baning the airline in the middle east for reasons I don’t exactly remember or fair and the safety dispute with Airbus I would have been on their side if I had a say. Than came the woman incident in Doha in 2020 which is just went too far while a woman should not get away with abandoning her baby the way the whole thing went down was awful on reflection. Than we had the slot issue I do think qatar airways deserve better treatment in this they are getting compared to emirates (who pre pandemic had at stages 3 to Perth 3-4 to sudney 3 to Melbourne and 2-3 to Brisbane per day) and qatar only allowed 4 to the same cities isn’t that fair the idea of more flights though has issues it we aren’t going to tackle qantas hoarding slots than we need a to find space somewhere to allow more airlines into the market Turkish has been trying to launch flights for years but are limited to far less than qatar for instance if they want prices down stop slot hoarding end all talk of curfews and eliminate the existing ones and increase slot caps. But than qatar airways banned Josh cahill an avaition youtuber whose videos are quite interesting over his honest views about the airline which is a step too far if your practiv3s aren’t up to standard in terms of how you handle your workers don’t sack the workers fix the problems it reminds me of Alan jotce and the fact that he sacked someone for raising safety concerns during the pandemic early on and not doing anything till he had To. Right now qatar airways needs to rebuild it’s image and we need airlines to fix costumer relation problems. As well as a much fairer usage of slots to get prices down.
