aviation issues and politics and my take on the rex issues

goverenments have made a lot of mistakes in the past on aviation with the big 4 worse ones coming from chifley, keating, howard and morrison (abbott would have made the list if he allowed foreign owenerrship in qantas). will start with chifleys rubbish decision to do all he could to destroy ana a private airline in the 1940s by starting a goverenment airline taa and giving them unfair advantages that by 1957 made the airline go bust at least menzies did some good things to make it fair for ansett (taas main rival). keating only gets a mention for the stupid idea of airport curfews in australia doing one for sydney which kick started the movements around the country which have been succesful in adeladie and gold coast. howard though is the worst offender for his handeling of ansett crisis in the late 90s early 00s he let them be foreign owned by an airline who wasn’t in good shape (air nz) than wouldn’t save them or do anything for them after air nz let them go or even condem nz for its decision (as far as i know) and now one of his ministers (john sharp) is involved in destroying rex. lastly morisions handouts in the pandemic which weren’t distributed fairly giving qantas money that didn’t save jobs and put them into regional routes they had no right to and giving rex money for jex exapnsion which we now know was a mistake. now i will note albos not off to a good start on aviation but nothing as major as the examples above yet and bonza i will say had no chance of ever working. now rex has to go back into only doing regional services get rid of a lot of the board which are clearly infighting and get some money fromt he goverenment so these services survive but the jet services unfortunately can’t survive. they also need to free up more slots and end the curfews (not introduce new ones) and flight caps becuase that is making it very difficult for a lot of flights to operate. finally i will say the qatar situation isn’t that fair but shoudl be fixed once the woman are compensated for the doha incident and than give them a fair amount of slots if not reduce emirates slots (i have a bad history with emirates but they have way more flights to australia than qatar in a unfair way).
