my best and worse hawthorn games that i have watched.

this is something a little different but i thought i’d list the top 10 and worse 10 hawks games since 2001 that i remeber.

best 10

10. hawthorn v st kilda 2008 prelim when the hawks win their way to my first grand final of my life.

9. hawthorn v essendon 2018 round 7 this is a personal one as i got to finally see my hawks beat the dons at the g and i also got to go to the rooms afterwards.

8. hawthorn v sydney 2001 elim first finals win.

7. hawthorn v carlton 2008 round 22 buddys 100th goal for the year.

6. hawthorn v sydney 2017 round ? one of the best games i have been to and the feeling when the hawks hanged on to win by a goal was great.

5. hawthorn v melbourne 2005 round 8 first time i ever saw the hawks win at the g great feeling.

4. hawthorn v freemantle 2013 grand final great flag but even though it was closer than the other three the fact the opponents still haven’t won a flag has it the lowest.

3. hawthorn v west coast 2015 grand final 3 peat hawks.

2. hawthorn v sydney 2014 grand final revenge for 2012 and them taking buddy.

10. 9. gold coast v hawthorn 2017 round 3 the end of the golden era first loss to suns and by 86 points.

9. essendon v hawthorn 2015 round 2 controversal split second finish that stung for weeks.

8. port v hawthorn 2006 round 11 third 80 plus loss in adeliade to port in a row.

7. essendon v hawthorn 2009 round 22 brute lloyd bashes sewell changes the game and costs the hawks finals.

6. geelong v hawthorn 2016 qual final the miss after the siren that cost me revenge and a possible 4 peat.

5. geelong v hawthorn 2009 round 17 losing after the siren and the real begining of the kennet curse.

4. st kilda v hawthorn 2001 round 22 another after the siren loss that nearly cost the hawks a home final curtesy of brute

3. geelong v hawthorn 2012 round 19 tom hawkins steals it after the siren.

2. essendon v hawthorn 2005 round 3 an idiot umpire gives brute dean solomon a goal when it was touched by a hawks defender costing the hawks their first win over the dons in my time supporting them.

1. sydney v hawthorn 2012 grand final the 4 peat that got away and an awful loss when the hawks played slightly better but couldn’t convert.

i will note the reason i use brute for lloyd, solomon and hall is they have been rough players in their carrers and had major suppensions in their time. three honorable mentions from 2007 crows v hawks in round 14 was in the original draft for this list as was port in round 20 and north in the semi but just missed out as did the 2016 round 20 clash with dees the 2004 round 11 brawl against dons (considered the loss to crows the week before as well) and the 2018 semi against the dees.
