a new american dc-10 departs detroit for buffalo when the cargo door blows off the plane luckily no one is sucked out but the controls are damaged and it takes an effort to land back in detroit but thehy do safely the door is found in windsor ontario and is found to have major design flaws and they try and fix it but a gentlemens agrrement between the faa and mcdonald douglas leads to in 1974 a turkish dc-10 with 346 on board has its door come off out of paris and crashes with no survivors with the same problem but with a heavier plane had less chance of saving itself but they nearly did. this is the begining of the dc-10s safety issues that would lead it to being a non-safe plane.
