while the dees again topped the ladder with 12 and a half wins the biggest story is the hawks finally made the finals finishing 3rd behind the dons but ahead of the blues on percentage. the cats won the wooden spoon with 5 and a half wins. it was very even.

the hawks opened their first finals campaign beating the blues but the dons stunned the dees who had to beat the hawks in a prelim and the dons in the grand to do a 3 peat. their 9th overall.

a round 3 loss to the dees was their first round 6 to the hawks to the blues in ronud 7 tigers in round 10 roos in round 11 had them falling out of contention dees also beat them in round 14 and hawks in ronud 17 got 2nd with 7 loses unusally bad but stunned the dees in the semi but couldn’t repeat in the grand.

a shock loss to the lions started their title defence lost to the hawks in ronud 4, tigers in round 7, drew with pies in round 13 now on top, lost to hawks in round 15 and south in round 17 only sealing first when they won the last game (with hawks and blues still a chance at that point) they lost to dons in semi but beat hawks and dons to win the flag.
