on their way through the peltaburg woods when they run into a trainer dressed as a zigazagoon named nicoklai who is trying to catch one he challenges may to a battle when he finds out she is the daughter of norman the petalburg gym leader using his mudkip it is a mismtach for may’s torchic it upsets max when nicoklai says the gym will be easy so max tries to stop nickolai catching zigzagoon but this doesn’t work. but all ends well.
