this is my thoughts on who is contending and whose in trouble in this years afl season.
the power ranking is freo, hawthorn, geelong, sydney, gold coast, bullldogs. brisbane, melbourne, adelaide, gws, collingwood, north, carlton, st kilda, west coast, port, essendon, richmond.
now to explain a few questoinable things bulldogs gws and melbourens best can beat almost anyone but are questionable away form home. st kilda are hit and miss but could swap them with a few teams above them. carlton would be 16th until 3 weeks ago. west coasts inconsistancy is why there low. richmond and esssendon are in a league of their own in hopelessness (apart from one win over the dees for the dons). why i have sydney below geelong and hawthorn is they have both beaten them (only teams to do so they are yet to play freo). while i acknowledge geelongs early win over freo i sitll have them lower than hawks after last weeks loss and the dockers were rusty. lions i can’t see doing a 3 peat at this stage adelaide are the one i don’t have a read on at this point at all but are mid table. ports probably the biggest disappointment ladder wise at this stage especially with their percentage and several close loses. i think the top 4 is almost set unless bulldogs get really healthy and dangerous the only team in the 6 who could still be worse than wildcard round is melbourne now the giants and bulldogs are back in form and who knows about adeliade but its hard to see if they win this week who would be 10th instead of them as they play collingwood this week. my thinking is either a 2013 prelim or grand final rematch hoping for the later with the same result (hawks winning i am a hawks supporter if you didn’t know) but i have freo as the favourite at this point. i haven’t studied the rest of the year draw but theres a lot to look forward to.
